Description

This set is intended for existing Pitlock users who would like additional security on their bike. Set includes one Pitlock skewer of your choice (front wheel, rear wheel, or seatpost), and up to two keys.

All Pitlock skewer parts are cold-forged and CNC machined from high-grade stainless steel.

Additional notes:

  • The 240mm “joker” skewers are fully threaded, and will need to be cut to length. Cutting skewers is a fairly common need, and only requires a hacksaw or Dremel tool.
  • Each skewer is actually 10MM longer than the length shown. The locking mechanism requires 10MM of space.

Worried about losing your Pitlock keys, or needing to change a tire on the road? Purchase a keychain tool and never be without your Pitkey again.

Seems solid so far (arrived today – only 1 ride). Good to have a torque wrench – I went at least another 1/2 turn to get 88 inch -lbs (~10 nm). I was worried about length for my suspension fork, and grip – the original skewer had longer teeth than just the outer circumference. The wheel is firmly in place, even after 44MPH, turning, and hard braking. The length is fine (120mm) even though the table listed 155mm to replace my old one (140mm). I bought this size based on a simple measurement of the outside of the drop-out. And my sizing dilemma is the only reason I am not rating it 5/5. It should be more straightforward to measure the drop-out and pick a size from the table. The only reason I went ahead with the purchase is I knew my wife’s bike was smaller, so it could go there is too small for mine.

This skewer is an ingenious design that seems like it would be extremely hard to defeat. The keychain tool is very nice solid metal that fits well with the socket. When you tighten the skewer the system has a satisfying feeling like winding a grandfather clock, probably the nicest component on my entire bike.

Prompt response, you emailed immediately and checked when you had a question on my needs, quickly and graciously refunded as i clarified I had the nut, only needed skewer. It’s on now, and seems to be working very well. Thanks for excellent experience. Highly recommend, and would see you first in future if i equip 2nd bike.

A tiny bit bulkier than I had imagined, but still looks very good and functions great.

So far so good. Seems secure. I’m looking forward to putting some miles on it.

So I ordered both some pinhead locking skewers and pitlock at the same time. I really appreciate that pitlock can accommodate my unusually long rear skewers with their 240mm version, but a couple complaints: first, it seemed like a primary design goal of the pitlock was that there was supposed to be a sheath that prevented easy access to the actual locking nut. But, in experimentation, I was able to twist the sheath and had some moderate success in that being able to unlock the locking nut :/ that seemed to defeat the purpose. Second complaint was that, after cutting the extra long pitlock joker skewer with a hack saw, I then used the rubber skewer endcap from pinhead to cover the jagged edge left by my hacksaw. Would have been nice for pitlock to include that. Last complaint would be that pinhead included instructions. I didn’t need as detailed instructions as they provided, but I did have to google the pitlock installation instructions youtube video. Not a big deal, bit a minor annoyance.
But I certainly appreciate my new locking rear skewer. Pretty sure it was the only one available anywhere, works pretty well, makes me feel more secure, and I’ll recommend it to anyone else who has a Montague Rackstand on their rear wheel 🙂

Invaluable value. Ratio of preservation to protection off the charts.

Pitlocker is great stuff. Not cheap, but top quality and worth it. Urban Bike Tech ships promptly. Thanks!

The key gets a good grip on the locking nut. Very easy to loosen and tighten the skewer without slipping. Seems pretty difficult to defeat without power tools.

Great way to secure your seat! No need to take it with you and readjust every time you ride.

Quality of parts is very high. Shipping price fair, fast and tracked. I’ve used pinheads and the quality of these parts feels a bit better.

I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but it seems to be very well made, and the key fits precisely. This is to go on a GreenSpeed Anura that I don’t have yet, and I hope I don’t have to shorten the skewer since the fork width is 110mm. Not a big deal if I do, though.

These seem like a great lightweight alternative to a bike chain when I need to lock up my rear wheel.

I had a small problem getting my second order due to US post office inefficiency, but Urban Bike Technologies remailed at their expense solving problem. Thank You.

The product is what it is. Urban bike tech makes it available and they get it to you promptly. I’d say I’d buy again, but it feels obvious since they’re where I get my pitlock stuff every time.
