For some bikes with incompatible hubs, the seatpost set may be the only thing that Pitlock can provide protection for. Keep your seat secure with unmatched Pitlock protection. Skewers range in size from 23mm to 60mm. For help measuring your bike for Pitlocks, please see our measurement guide.

This set comes complete with all the necessary components for installation: one 5mm skewer, one locking mechanisms, and up to two keys. Available colors are silver and black.

Description

Pitlock’s “Set 06” is intended to protect your seatpost from getting stolen. The set comes complete with one seatpost skewer length of your choice (up to 60mm), and up to two keys.

When installing the seat post security, please make sure that the outer surfaces of the saddle clamp are flush. If this is not the case, the lock’s security will be compromised. For frames that do not have an integrated seatcollar, we highly recommend ordering one of our saddle clamps (which is specifically designed to be compatible with this skewer.)

If you’re ordering a seatpost skewer and already have an existing Pitlock set, we can ensure that the new set is coded to match your existing set.

Although I love the rest of the pitlock sets, for the seatpost regardless of whether I used a wrench or Alan key, I could not torque down the screw tight enough for the seatpost to be rigidly held in the bike. Also, unlike the other pitlocks, this one is vulnerable from the back from a bolt snippet or either similar attack (handheld dremel tool, etc) as the screw part of the skewer is exposed in the back.

Meaning, even if you tighten the skewer, you use the recommended seatpost clamp, in between the two clamp ends there’s an exposed section of the screw that can easily be cut without any crazy tools, and in such a way that the seatpost and seat would not be damaged and would be sellable by the thief. This is different from the wheel locks or the fork lock, which don’t have any exposed sections to attack like this. Wouldn’t recommend this skewer, though I do recommend the wheel locks.

More expensive than the Abus seatpost lock I own but 31.8 was not available. The advantage is that you don’t need to lay the bike down on its side to unlock the Pitlock. With Abus there is no key so you don’t have to worry about losing it. This is personal preference but the Pitlock works great. Bikes that do not have a kickstand may want the Pitlock since you may already be laying your bike down in a more vulnerable position. I will be ordering more of the Pitlock products with the same key code. They have a much more extensive lock selection for more bike parts that could be stolen.
