About PITLOCK™ -  Anatomy of PITLOCK™
Wheel & Seat Skewers -  Solid Axle -  Ahead Lock

PITLOCK™ anti-theft products are regarded across Europe as the most secure, best-quality locking skewers on the market. These German engineered and manufactured locking skewers use a unique CNC-machined nut along with a solid, stainless steel free-rotating housing to ensure that only the matching coded PITLOCK™ key will open it.

Each piece is beautifully machined from high-grade stainless steel to precise tolerances. Take a close look at the photo below. What you are seeing is the coded nut nested within the matching Pit Key. Notice how precisely they fit (the darker region around the nut is the slight bevel on the inside lip of the Pit Key). You can find out more about the anatomy of Pitlock™ by navigating the information menu above.

The key to Pitlock™ is the well thought out securing mechanism that makes it nearly impossible for thieves to remove your parts. The free-rotating housing protects against twisting with pliers. If you're thinking that a pair of needle-nose pliers will do the job, then think again.

First, the coded nut is deep within the outer housing and is bevelled to make it impossible to grab. Second, an ingenious lock-ring (itself meshing with the axle) meshes with notches on the underside of the coded nut to lock it in place once tightened. The only way to release it is with the PITLOCK™ key which slides all the way down the coded nut and compresses all of the teeth at once to allow the nut to rotate.
