This set includes protection for your front and rear wheels, seatpost, and V-brakes. It is intended to protect as many parts as possible on a bike that has a threaded headset (meaning that you don't have a topcap).
The wheel skewers use the legendary Pitlock locking mechanism to ensure that commuter and high-end wheelsets alike stay on your bike instead of in a thief's hands.
Rest assured that your seat will stay where it is with Pitlock's locking seatpost skewer. Using the same locking mechanism as the Pitlock wheel skewers it cheerfully protects your seat from would-be thieves.
The V-brake bolts are designed to fit most brakes on the market. Stainless steel spacers are provided to tweak the fit, however, you should ensure that your V-brakes provide enough space for the locking mechanism. The Pitlock mechanism is 16mm or 5/8" in diameter at its widest point.
You have your choice of either two or four bolts. Two bolts are often enough. The intention is to use one locking bolt on the front set of brakes, and one on the back. A thief is unlikely to steal only one side of a pair of v-brakes. This also helps keep the price of the set lower. For maximum security, four bolts are available.
All Pitlock parts with exception of the Ahead Lock are cold-forged and CNC machined from high-grade stainless steel. The Ahead Lock uses the same steel for the bolt, but in order to save weight, the top can is machined in aluminum.
